How to bring external data into NinjaTrader 8 without using Import

Hi.

Is there any alternative to Import Data to put data into NinjaTrader 8? For instance, can I use some kind of input command in NinjaScript to read data from an external text file or a database written in SQL, for instance? I want a solution that allows me to bring into NinjaTrader something like the weather condition or anything that is not part of the traditional feed.

Thank you for your note.

I wrote an indicator which downloads data off the CFTC website, parses it and displays it as an indicator under a chart. You could use this as a model for how to import alternative data.

I do not know of a command input or any other alternative aside from importing historical data through the historical data manager.

What exactly is the name of this indicator? and is it for NT8? I am wanting to grab price/fundamental data from a website and use it as "real time" data for a strategy. Is this possible?

I'm trying to download this indicator from the shared file area (post #7 in this thread)-but when I hit "Download" - it just goes into the eternal turning wheel--this has happened on every download attempt on any of these indicators, but this one in this thread is the one I'd like to see...

any alternative way to get it?

A small percentage of our clients are unable to download from the User App Share.
I've downloaded and attached. Let me know if you are also unable to download from the forum.

We'd like to collect further information as we investigate the issue.

• What version of Windows are you using?
• What web browser are you using?
• Is the web browser updated to the latest release?
• Does this symptom persist if your clear your browser's cache?
• What about if you use a different web browser? (Try firefox, chrome, edge, brave and opera)
• What about after you turn off your PC, turn off your modem/router for at least 30 seconds, then restart your PC?
• Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?

Another forum member has suggestions specifically for google chrome by enabling pop-ups for ninjatrader.com.
