While the November FOMC meeting resulted in an unchanged fed funds rate to no one’s surprise, Fed Chair Jerome Powell followed it with a nearly hour-long press conference 30 minutes later. While some of his comments may have seemed hawkish, Powell acknowledged that the Fed remains data-dependent when handling the inflation situation.
